Date: November 19-23 Games Venue: Western Oval, Ryder Oval, Mc Allister Oval, Ransford Oval, Poplar Oval, Brendan Smith Oval and Walker Ovals (2) - Royal Park These 7 ovals are adjoining and stretch from the Zoo gates to Park St Parkville (Royal Park). Easy public transport is with trams along Sydney Rd or rail to either Royal Park Stn(700 m) or Jewell Stn( 400m) The 7 ovals will be rotated every 2nd day under the Melbourne City Council new strict regime on watering and resting pitches. Poplar(synthetic ) will be used for 5 consecutive days. Change rooms : 6 modern rooms with toilet and shower will be available plus two specific umpire rooms, however umps will be welcome to change in players rooms also. Interstate clubs Tas, SA, NSW and ACT will be given a specific room for their exclusive use for the carnival period. Vic Country, Vic 1sts and 2nds and ACS will share the other 2 rooms. During the Wednesday feature game, the red brick pavilion will be used on that day only by the two 0/70 sides and umpires. After game refreshments will be provided at normal club prices( quite reasonable), By the Youlden -Parkville CC at the central pavilion , which is situated between the Ryder and McAllister ovals. On Tuesday night they will put on a BBQ there , paid for by Victoria 0/60 Cricket Assn. These drinks will be available for each of the evenings after play, including up to 6pm on the night of our Thursday combined dinner. Thursday will see our second ANNUAL ALL TEAMS DINNER for players, partners and families at the Bridie O'Rielly Hotel's large function room, 200 metres from the ovals on the corner of Sydney Rd and Brunswick Rd. Walk or catch a tram. Starts at 7pm. Cost $27 per head to be collected by prior to the night. Menu: Alternating service of either Roast Beef with roast vegs and gravy / grilled trevally with chips, salad and citrus lemon sauce - followed by alternate service of tirasamu or strawberry cheesecake served with fresh cream. Tea and coffee will be freely available from a coffee/tea station throughout the dinner. Other beverages not included, but the hotel has issued a detailed price list which is not exorbitant. This function will be strictly on a prebook basis as we must order according to exact prepaid numbers. Fixture: As of October 12, Tasmania had 2 teams, NSW 1, ACT 1 , Victoria 1sts and 2nds, SA 2 teams, Vic country is low on numbers and ACS will be fielding two full teams for the Thursday and Friday only. The actual fixture will be finalized when exact numbers are certain. Scorers: Mrs Rosemary McLeod will be marshalling volunteer scorers.Volunteers are still required and interested scorers should send their phone number to John Hammer on 95921999 or email jhammer1935@yahoo.com.au . Interstate teams are asked to provide a scorer for each match. Umpires; volunteer umpires are invited. All matches will be umpired by "neutral "umpires . Eight scorers and umpires, including partners within the 8, where applicable, will be eligible for a magnificent yacht cruise in Two Fold Bay, at Eden, whale watching , having a sip of champagne and nibbling gourmet tucker for a couple of hours up to 7 kms out into the Pacific Ocean, to a total prize value for 8 passengers, of $1000. It will be awarded on amount of service during the carnival. In the event of more than 8 tied for the prize, a ballot from those qualified will be used to reduce the number to 8, to keep within the capacity of the yacht, "BLUE WATER ESCAPE". Umpires and scorers will be issued with special free lunch cards, returnable each day. Team managers will collect the match fees . Interstate sides should bring their own balls, stumps and scorebooks. Victorian caps ($16) and shirts ($27) will be on sale throughout the carnival, until sold out.
